Tapering - it's getting close!

  • Sat, Jan 16: 2hrs 2-3mins, 9 miles!!!
Usually I put my distance first, but this time we were going to run for time. We'd done our last long run the week before, so now it was time to ease up and give our bodies a rest so we'd be ready for race day.

Everyone just ran for an hour, turned around wherever we were and ran back. For once, that meant that we should all finish together, and as a person who is always one of the last, I was quite looking forward to being "with the pack", even if that was at the end. I was also hoping to run at least 9 miles, as that would mean that a long slow comfortable pace was also within the pace I need to be for the marathon itself (~14 min mile). I was sooo pleased when I realised that I had. As I jogged at about a 13 1/3 min mile, that made me a little more confident for the race.

Just as good, we were back by 10:30am! Can't remember the last time I finished a Saturday practice that early. So a good day all round! :)
