Marathon Run, Marathon Journey

Hi! I’m training to run a marathon & raising funds to cure blood cancer. With work & all, it has all been very demanding but well worth the effort. My family is on board & giving lots of encouragement. Hopefully, you (friends & soon-to-be friends) will too. Via this blog & my website, we both can keep track of my progress. When the going gets tough, the tough get going.

Really, really, really don't want to go today. Too bad. Will just have to watch House on the treadmill. For some reason, singing katy perry's song waking up in vegas in my head is helping with the motivation. I have this urge to jump around...

The Update:
I went, watched House and whiled away 40 mins. Alright!!! That's 40 minutes!!!!

The Lingo

E1: This is as EASY as EASY gets, basically as fast as you go from your sofa to the fridge.
E2: This is nice and EASY run. You should feel as though you can run like this all day. Your breathing is easy and controlled. You should be able to hold a conversation while you are running.
E3: At E3 you are pushing a little harder and moving faster. Your breathing becomes a bit faster and deeper. It is harder to talk while you are running; in fact it will take you a few breaths to complete a sentence and likely can only get out 2-3 words. You are challenging yourself a bit. Think of E3 as E2 plus 10% more effort.
E4: This is when you are running pretty hard. Your breathing is controlled, but much quicker. If you are talking your conversation is more a series of grunts than actually sentences.

Tempo: Tempo runs are defined as "comfortably HARD" efforts or pace, slightly faster than your half marathon pace (88% of max HR for all those wearing a HR monitor).
